JH) did you always want to work with music, or have you had or have other ambitions?

SF) well, when i was young i was dreaming of becoming a professional football player for my favourite team 1.fc köln. i started playing in a little football club in east berlin, but i stopped when the wall came down and started listening to electronic music.

JH))what has been your musical journey, have you played in bands if so what kind and what kind of music did you make?

SF)i never played in any band projects and started directly producing electronic music.

JH) have you always released as “Sascha Funke” ? if not what was the first track you ever released ? can we hear it?

SF)yes i always released under this name. my first record i did was on kompakt nr. 13 ( was not a bad luck number for me;)

called “campus” in 1999.

JH)you live in Berlin. What do you love most about the city?

SF)it´s pretty relaxed and spacious here. it has the right balance of a big city and a village and you can still afford a good

way of living. but i have to say i´m really missing the spring/summer. it has been a hard winter here.

JH)this will be your 3rd gig for WYS! in London. What would you say is difference between playing in London and Berlin?

SF)well, apart from fabric and WYS i do not really know much about the clubscene in london. london is fabric and fabric is london for me. i´m curious to come back there and feel always excited like a little child in that great club.in berlin i play often at the watergate, which is still a solid spot for nightlife in berlin. but honestly since so many people travelling around europe i see not that big differences in the nightlife between these 2 cities.

C)your studio is at the BPitch office. has this changed the way you work? do ellen and the crew pop in to check what your up to?

SF) i just moved with my studio into juliennes and i’s apartment. we had a month off last autumn in the bourgogne and started spontaneously making music together. this went so great, that when we got back, we set up all the instruments at home. we have so much fun and are really happy with our new life. after finishing breakfast we have a 2 meters walk to start a new song.

JH)could you show us a picture of your studio?

SF)no sorry it´s private

PP)what artists and producers inspires you at the moment?

SF)well, i do not listen much to music at the moment, so no inspiration from any artist.

PP) all of us loved your last album “Mango” When can we expect another full length album from you?

SF)so, here are the breaking news exclusively for you. as i said before julienne and i started our own music project called “saschienne”. we started in november in Burgundy (France) and we are about to finish this album in the next weeks. julienne is always playing the keys, she has such a great talent for the right melodies and moods.generally i do the percussions, bass and some little details. we also did some vocals together. all i can say is that after being a solo artist for so long i am so happy to do all this and the past 3 months were my biggest creative kick since i make music. i definitely will play some of our tracks at WYS and julienne and me are excited to hear our music at julienne’s club. it´s gonna be so emotional for us.

C) at WYS! we try our best to create an intimate club vibe. Do you enjoy performing in front of huge audiences or smaller crowds?

i am more a fan of smaller clubs than bigger stages. so i have to say your club has the right intimate vibe.

WYS!)on your last WYS! date with us, you stole our beloved Julienne. are you planning to return her soon?

SF) julienne is missing you all a lot (especially missing kicking your arses), but as far as i can see, she´s enjoying her new life in berlin with me.

and we are both not coming with empty bags. as i said we bring music to london, our music. watch out! ;)
